Materials of the Murder Investigation at the Karakert Nightclub Have Been Sent to Court
The investigation into the murder that occurred in front of the nightclub in Karakert village, Armavir province, on July 3, 2023, and attempted murder charges against two individuals has been completed.
On that day, at 05:26, it was reported that three residents of Karakert had been transported to the Armavir Medical Center with stab wounds, one of whom later died in the hospital.
The investigation carried out by the Armavir Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee established that on July 3, around 00:00, four residents from the mentioned area and two residents from the village of Arteni in Aragatsotn province had arrived at the nightclub in Karakert, where they engaged in a domestic, unfounded argument that was resolved just minutes later.
However, around 03:00, when a 23-year-old resident of Arteni was near the door of the club, one of the residents of Karakert invited him outside. The young man, pulling out a sharp object prepared in advance for causing bodily harm, approached the individual who called him. Driven by the obsession of emphasizing his advantages, he struck the individual on the thigh with the object intending to take his life, and then, using blunt objects, also struck the injured man's head, causing him moderate bodily harm.
Continuing his hooligan behavior, during the same fight, the young man also attacked two friends of the resident of Karakert, one of whom died from a chest injury, while the other sustained life-threatening serious harm.
Moreover, the 23-year-old resident of Arteni, demonstrating blatant disregard for the norms of coexistence and openly showing contempt for legal norms, shouted insults in the aforementioned nightclub, obstructing its normal operations.
During this time, two wounded residents of Karakert, along with their third fellow villager, began to beat him with bats, leading to a brawl in the club area, which also included the friend of the 23-year-old resident.
The criminal prosecution against the young residents of Karakert and the friend of the 23-year-old from Arteni has been terminated based on reconciliation and effective remorse.
The 23-year-old has been charged under various sections of the RA Criminal Code, including Article 155, Part 2, Point 12; Article 44-155, Part 2, Point 12 (2 episodes); Article 167, Part 2, Points 8 and 12; and Article 297, Part 3. He has been placed under arrest as a measure of restraint.
The pre-trial investigation has been completed, and the materials of the criminal case have been sent to court with an indictment against the 23-year-old.
