Video: Wildfires in Primorye Approach Villages, Fire Regime in Effect
The Primorye region of Russia is engulfed in wildfires. As firefighters work to extinguish the blazes, the flames are approaching nearby villages, local media report.
The Primorsky Krai has become a victim of a natural disaster after dry grass ignited in the forests. Almost the entire perimeter of this area, consisting entirely of steppes and forests, is now ablaze. The fire is nearing the water station supplying the village of Slavyanka.
The fire is so intense that the sky, even at a distance, is filled with black smoke. The situation is further complicated by strong winds, as sparks from the burning dry forests are falling onto wooden structures with every flare-up.
Currently, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, there are two outbreaks recorded, covering an area of over 4,000 hectares, most of which have been localized. A fire regime is now in effect in the Primorsky Krai.
