Video: "That's the Mayor's Authority, I'm a Small Person" – Begoyan to Residents of Buildings on Lvovyan Street

Yesterday, I was there, recording how many families live in that area. The process is beyond my authority, but everything has been presented to my superiors. This was stated today, March 4, during a conversation with residents of Lvovyan Street in the Nor Nork administrative district, at a protest in front of the Yerevan City Hall by Armen Begoyan, director of the "Greening and Environmental Protection" municipal agency.

"The city hall is returning areas belonging to Yerevan residents back to them. Many areas there are currently just fenced off, with nothing inside. Perhaps in the past, people planted trees there and benefited from their yield. Now all that will be demolished and turned into public space. According to Yerevan's master plan, that has long been designated as a green space. There used to be a forest there," he said.

Begoyan promised that those who do not have a place to live and are currently residing in the structures slated for demolition will have their issues addressed somehow. "Some solution will be provided to those individuals who truly have nowhere to go and have been living in those small houses; the city hall will show some approach. That's the mayor's authority; I'm too small to make such a decision.

We visited all those areas where demolition work is planned shortly. We saw where people live, and documented where there are buildings and where people reside within those existing structures," he stated.

Begoyan agreed to meet with five individuals on Thursday at 12 PM to discuss their issues.

Previously, it was reported that on February 29, several addresses on Lvovyan Street in the Nor Nork administrative district had illegal structures and homes demolished with police assistance, where people had lived for decades. The city hall noted that illegal constructions had been built on green public land, which had burdened community property, and they are now being cleared for greening purposes. This concerns the areas adjacent to the Tatul Krpeyan Park.
