US Responds to Putin's Nuclear Weapons Statement

The United States is not seeing any signs that Russia is preparing to use nuclear weapons and will continue to monitor the situation closely. This was stated by Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, during a press briefing. The information was reported by TASS.

According to the State Department representative, the U.S. has previously communicated to Russia the potential consequences of using nuclear weapons through private channels and direct communications.

“Moreover, we do not see any signs that Russia is preparing to use nuclear weapons, and we will continue to monitor that closely,” Miller said.

In response to a request from a journalist to comment on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s statements made in his address to the Federal Assembly, Miller insisted that the U.S. has “heard irresponsible rhetoric” from the Russian leadership many times before.

In his address, President Putin stated that the consequences of possible interventions in Russia would be far more tragic than in previous eras. According to Putin, Russia's adversaries must remember that he has weapons capable of striking targets in their territories. He also emphasized that the actions of the U.S. and its allies have effectively led to the dismantling of the European security system.
