Armenia Ready to Apply for EU Candidate Status, Says Parliament Speaker

Armenia is ready to apply for EU candidate status, but I do not want to rush and announce anything only to find out later that one-sided steps are being taken. This was stated by Parliament Speaker Alen Simonian during a conversation with reporters, addressing the shift in foreign policy direction towards NATO and the potential accession to the EU.

Simoniam noted that discussions regarding the North Atlantic Alliance have not occurred even within government circles, while they are fully prepared for the enhancement of relations with the EU. “Our actions and our indicators demonstrate that we have a higher degree of democracy compared to several of our partners who are already EU members,” Simonian remarked.
