Pashinyan Says How Many Citizens Have Registerd to Rent Out Their Apartments
During a government session, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated, "We promised during the 2021 pre-election period that we would ensure an average annual economic growth of 7 percent, which is a very ambitious indicator. I can say that in 2023, we have managed to record an 8.7 percent economic growth. In 2022, economic growth was 12.6 percent, and in 2021, it was 5.6 percent. Essentially, based on the indicators from 2021, we have fulfilled the obligation of providing an average annual economic growth of 7 percent, which is, of course, a comprehensive indicator that influences all sectors."
Referring to tax revenues, he noted, "In 2023, we have ensured a budgetary revenue of 2 trillion 222 billion drams. This figure is 1 trillion 64 billion drams higher than in 2017, which means that the growth in tax revenues has been approximately 92 percent. In other words, we have increased tax revenues by 92 percent compared to 2017."
He emphasized, "We should not be satisfied with what we have achieved, as unfortunately there is a shadow economy in the country, and we must also consider cases where we practically do not conduct de facto tax administration. This year, we expect that when renting homes, people will register and pay taxes. I know that already 21,000 citizens have registered that they are renting out apartments," he pointed out.
The head of the State Revenue Committee, Badasyan, added that 15,300 citizens have submitted approximately 21,000 declarations, meaning one person could have multiple rental agreements. He noted that more than 90 percent of them did not submit such declarations in previous years, which indicates that the law has been effective.
