Gymnastics World Cup: Davtyan Advances to Finals
Leading athlete of the Armenian artistic gymnastics team, world and European champion, and Olympic bronze medalist Artur Davtyan has advanced to the finals of the vault event at the second stage of the World Cup taking place in Cottbus, Germany, as reported by ArmSport.am.
In the qualifying round, Davtyan scored 14.966 points from two vaults, securing the first place to move on to the finals. The vault finals will be held on February 25.
Earlier, Vahe Davtyan and Artur Avetisyan had already qualified for the rings event finals, while young gymnast Gagik Khachikyan made it to the finals in the pommel horse category.
Recently, Armenian gymnasts won 1 gold and 1 silver medal at the first stage of the World Cup held in Cairo, Egypt. Artur Davtyan earned the title of champion in the vault final with a score of 14.933 points, while Vahe Davtyan claimed a silver medal. In the rings finals, the Armenian athlete scored 14.500 points, finishing in second place.
The World Cup stages are qualifying events for the 33rd Summer Olympic Games in Paris. So far, only Artur Davtyan has secured a spot for Paris 2024 among Armenian gymnasts.
