Samvel Gasparyan Becomes European Weightlifting Runner-Up, Garik Karapetyan Wins Bronze

In the nearing conclusion of the European Weightlifting Championship in Sofia, Bulgaria, two representatives from the Armenian national team took to the stage today, February 19: 102 kg lifter Garik Karapetyan and Samvel Gasparyan.

Samvel Gasparyan became the runner-up in European weightlifting, while Garik Karapetyan claimed the bronze medal.

It is noteworthy that Garik Karapetyan won the first event in the snatch discipline, earning a small gold medal.

Later, the platform will be allocated to weightlifters in the 109 kg category, with Armenia represented by Petros Petrosyan. From 22:00, the stage will also feature members of the Armenian women's team, 87 kg lifters Tatev Hakobyan and Hripsime Khurshudyan.

It is important to mention that the European Weightlifting Championship serves as a qualifier for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
