Serbia Will Never Recognize Kosovo's Independence, Says Foreign Minister
Serbia's Foreign Minister Ivica Dačić has stated that Belgrade will never recognize Kosovo's independence, pointing out that the existence of the autonomous region is a clear indication of the violation of the international legal order and a vivid example of double standards in politics.
“Today, February 17, is the day when the international legal order was destroyed and the policy of double standards was officially cemented regarding the interpretation of the principle of territorial integrity of UN-recognized member states,” said Dačić.
He added, “With the enormous support of Western powers that exploit the religious-Islamic factor, Pristina has not succeeded and will not succeed in obtaining international recognition for these 16 years. They should not congratulate but rather be ashamed of maintaining the Pristina regime, which continues to kill the freedom-loving and heroic people in the heart of Europe.”
“Serbia is committed to peace and dialogue, but will never recognize the so-called unilateral declaration of Kosovo's independence, thereby upholding the core principles of international law. At the same time, we expect that just as we respect the territorial integrity of all countries in the world, everyone will also respect Serbia's territorial integrity according to UN Security Council Resolution 1244,” the diplomat concluded.
