Mass Killing of Dogs in Hrazdan Gorge

Dogs have been killed in the Hrazdan gorge. This was reported by members of an animal protection group who shared video footage (the visuals are quite brutal, hence we do not publish them) and stated that more than 10 dogs were killed yesterday in the gorge.

To clarify details about the incident, Auroranews contacted the press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Narek Sargsyan, who informed us that at 23:16 yesterday, a report was received at the Malatia Police Department.

“The report was about shots being fired at dogs, and one dog was noticed in a bloody state,” Sargsyan reported.

It should be noted that the police have once again informed what penalties are stipulated by Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, which addresses “Cruel Treatment of Animals.”

“Cruel treatment of an animal, including killing an animal through choking, hanging, dismemberment, poisoning, or administering substances that cause suffering leading to death, skinning an animal while alive, amputating parts of the animal, organizing or conducting fights between animals or capturing and collecting stray animals in a manner that leads to the mutilation or death of the animal, as well as using an animal for scientific, medical, or experimental purposes in violation of established procedures or other forms of cruelty, are punishable by a fine of up to twenty times the minimum wage, community service for a duration of eighty to one hundred fifty hours, or short-term imprisonment of up to two months, or imprisonment for up to two years,” the statement reads.
