Ukraine's Armed Forces New Commander Sirsky Announced Transition to Defense
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have completed attempts to conduct offensive operations along the contact line and have transitioned to a defensive posture. This announcement was made by the newly appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Sirsky, just a few days after his appointment.
“The situation at the front line can currently be assessed as complicated. …We have transitioned from offensive actions to conducting defensive operations,” he stated in an interview with the German ZDF television channel.
According to him, during defensive operations, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will attempt to utilize fortifications, drones, and electronic warfare technology to maintain prepared defensive lines. Sirsky believes the prospects of Ukrainian troops will depend on the extent of Western assistance. In his words, it is currently insufficient.
“Of course, the armaments are lacking; even the weaponry in use has a limited lifespan. Any barrel can fire a certain number of rounds before it needs to be replaced,” he added.
