The US Seeks to Exclude Russia from Middle Eastern Conflict Resolution Efforts, Lavrov
The United States is striving to assert its leadership in the Middle East by excluding Russia from international processes aimed at resolving regional conflicts. This statement was made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the Middle East conference of the Valdai International Discussion Club, as reported by RIA Novosti.
"The Americans preferred to bet on their dominance in the region (Middle East) and are now working towards removing Russia from the scene," Lavrov stated. The minister reminded that Washington has blocked the work of the Middle Eastern Quartet of international mediators, which consisted of Russia, the USA, the UN, and the EU. Lavrov added that the US is imposing disconnected recipes that are out of touch with reality, and their solutions are unilateral, not taking into account the peculiarities of either countries or the region itself.
