Trump Suggests Capital Punishment for Drug Dealers as Solution to U.S. Drug Epidemic
The United States can only overcome the drug epidemic by imposing the death penalty on drug dealers; other measures will not solve the problem. This was stated by former U.S. President Donald Trump.
“Every drug dealer kills at least 500 people in their lifetime. Until there is a death penalty, this problem will not be resolved; you are just fooling yourselves,” he said.
At the same time, Trump expressed doubt that the American public is ready for such a step. “We are becoming a drug-infested country; drug use in the U.S. has reached unprecedented levels,” he asserted.
Trump recounted how he had previously discussed this issue with Chinese President Xi Jinping. He noted that Xi assured him that there was no such problem in China. “Many years ago, drugs were extremely prevalent in China. But then they instituted the death penalty for drug dealers. And as soon as they did that, everything stopped,” Trump explained.
