Minister of Territorial Administration Discusses Armenia-Azerbaijan Gas Pipeline Restoration Talks
Armenia and Azerbaijan have not yet discussed the issue of gas pipeline restoration. This was stated by the press service of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of Armenia in response to a Sputnik Armenia inquiry.
In October 2023, the Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration, Hakob Vardanyan, announced that Armenia was ready to restore the gas pipelines coming from Azerbaijan if political issues were resolved.
According to the ministry, the gas transmission systems of Armenia and Azerbaijan have been interconnected through the following main gas pipelines:
- Gazakh-Yerevan, with a diameter of 1000 mm, requires 6 kilometers of restoration.
- Ilichevsk-Yerevan, with a diameter of 700 mm, requires 22 kilometers of restoration.
- Goris-Nakhichevan, with a diameter of 700 mm, requires 16.5 kilometers of restoration.
“We inform you that there have been no discussions with the Azerbaijani side regarding this matter,” the response stated.
As for the cost estimates for the restoration, the ministry noted that the issue is subject to discussion.
