Were the Results Fair? OSCE on Azerbaijan's Elections

The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) has released a statement regarding the results of the elections held in Azerbaijan, expressing concerns about the fairness of the voting process. This was reported by Reuters.

The statement noted that guarantees against multiple voting were absent during the elections. "This raised serious questions about whether the ballots were counted and whether the results were fair," the report states.

It was mentioned that the preparation for the elections was effective and professional; however, it lacked genuine pluralism, and dissenting voices were continually suppressed.

The presidential elections in Azerbaijan took place on February 7. Based on the processing of results from 93% of polling stations, Ilham Aliyev received 92.1% of the votes and won the elections for the fifth time.
