National Assembly Elects Member of the Supreme Judicial Council and Judge of the Civil Chamber of the Court of Cassation
The National Assembly of Armenia has elected a member of the Supreme Judicial Council and a judge of the Civil Chamber of the Court of Cassation through a closed secret ballot.
During the Assembly session, the results of the voting were presented by Narek Babayan, the head of the Counting Committee. Out of 107 members of the National Assembly, 69 participated in the voting.
All 69 participating lawmakers voted in favor of Karen Tumanyan's candidacy for the position of member of the Supreme Judicial Council. His candidacy was proposed by the 'Civil Contract' faction.
In accordance with the Judicial Code, Karen Tumanyan took the oath during the National Assembly session and signed the oath text.
The Supreme Judicial Council proposed the candidacies of Artur Atabekyan, Arman Ohanyan, and Gurgen Malhasyan to fill the vacant position of judge of the Civil Chamber of the Court of Cassation. For the election of the proposed candidates for the vacant position, 69 lawmakers participated again, all of whom voted in favor of Artur Atabekyan's candidacy.
