Levon Kocharyan Considers It Possible That Street Protests May Resume

Member of Parliament Levon Kocharyan from the "Armenia" faction stated that the opposition has the task of "opening the eyes" of society and is currently working on it.

He mentioned, "How effective this is can draw various assessments," during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly. He considers it possible that street protests may resume.

In response to the question about whether the Armenian people would vote "yes" for the constitutional changes proposed by Nikol Pashinyan if such an opportunity arises, Levon Kocharyan stated that he would do everything in his power to ensure that it does not happen.

Kocharyan also expressed confusion over the fact that he and his associate Sergey Asaturov were summoned again by the Investigative Committee yesterday and charges were brought against Asaturov. He explained, "There was a partial change in the description of the charges, they did it, reviewed it, conducted another interrogation, closed the case, and sent it to court."

He characterized everything that is happening in this case as absurd. "Armenian taxpayers are paying money to prosecutors and investigators to deal with such absurdities, it's simply laughable," he noted.

Kocharyan claimed that the police had given false testimonies, alleging that he had assaulted the police officers. "But my bodily injuries have been documented, yet there isn’t a single police officer who has been charged," said the MP.

Sergey Asaturov has been charged with the same allegation as Kocharyan. "At least in my case, there is a false testimony; in his case, there isn't even that, it’s absurd," emphasized Levon Kocharyan.

Politically, Kocharyan considers it likely that he may be detained again. "But legally, it’s absurd for such a thing to happen."
