Turkey Must First Acknowledge Reality: Turkish MP

Turkey must recognize the reality that the United States is an enemy country. This was stated to RIA Novosti by Dogu Perincek, the head of the Turkish 'Patriotic' party.

'There is an attempt to instill in public consciousness the understanding that the US is an arbiter trying to act as a mediator between Greece and Turkey. And there is always supposedly a demand for equality from the US. Turkey must first see the reality. Recently, nine of our soldiers were killed in Metina (northern Iraq). The US directly struck our aircraft (drones). And there were American soldiers participating in the operation in Metina along with their commanders and special forces officers. America is against us. The US is Turkey’s enemy. America has established its bases along the entire coast of Greece,' the politician stated.

The 'Patriotic' party is a left-wing party that stands for the positions of Turkey's first president, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and has an anti-Western and anti-American orientation. The party considers itself the successor to the Socialist Party of Workers and Peasants, which was founded in 1919. It is not represented in the Turkish parliament but is an influential force, especially in the regions. Currently, the party has over 50,000 members.
