Investigative Committee on Corruption Violations in the Ministry of Economy
On January 31, the Investigative Committee of Armenia announced that public criminal charges have been brought against seven individuals, four of whom are public officials. This information was provided to the media by the Investigative Committee.
The court fully granted four out of six motions presented by the prosecuting body regarding the selection of preventive measures for the defendants, and partially granted two. In particular, one motion resulted in house arrest, while another imposed detention for one month. Overall, detention has been applied as a preventive measure against three defendants, house arrest against three others, and a ban on leaving the country for one individual.
In another criminal case, a public official who was arrested on January 31 also had detention imposed as a preventive measure, in compliance with the prosecuting body's request.
It should be noted that two days ago, seven individuals were arrested in the Ministry of Economy, including Ani Isprian, who had just been relieved of her duties as Deputy Minister of Economy. The wife of the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, Ani Gevorgyan, was also arrested.
