I Have Concerns That We Are Already Falling Behind in Some Areas: Minister of High-Tech Industry
There is a debate about how much artificial intelligence is replacing humans, what the fears and concerns are surrounding this issue. I propose we put an end to this debate and acknowledge that we must think about how to integrate artificial intelligence tools into the Armenian economy, the digitalization system, radio communications, information, and science sectors. This was stated today by Minister of High-Tech Industry Mikayel Hairapetyan during the opening of the conference titled 'Artificial Intelligence for Business' at the new building of the Matenadaran.
‘Conferences like this are important. When we talk about technologies, we must understand that there are two approaches in human thinking, perception, and emotions. On one hand, we want to find solutions, while on the other hand, there are fears that are typical of humanity. Such fears have been present during all technological revolutions. I propose that we look forward. Those nations and peoples that think for too long about these issues will be left behind in the global development landscape. I am concerned that we have already fallen behind in some areas; therefore, we need decisions and actions that are ten times faster for exponential growth.
There was also a discussion about the digitization of documentation. I can say that even to this day, in various state agencies where new strategies and approaches are proposed, you will have a hard time finding the phrase 'artificial intelligence' in those documents.
I want to convey optimism and say that the Ministry of High-Tech Industry will lead discussions on artificial intelligence, not only with the public but also in effectively communicating with other agencies. We must break these fears that even exist within the state apparatus, and we need to do this today, right now. This is how I envision ensuring exponential growth. What digitization, what efficiency can we talk about regarding the state apparatus if we have such fears even at the decision-making level?' declared Mikayel Hairapetyan.
He noted that it is natural for the public to have many questions regarding this matter: 'But our leadership is crucial in breaking those fears. By doing so, I am confident that Armenia will become competitive in the world. Only through this path can Armenia become a country with ambitions and play an important role in the world by offering solutions to global issues. This will certainly change the world's perception of Armenia and its creators, transforming from a nation of eternal complaints into one that offers solutions and becomes a useful subject.'
The conference titled 'Artificial Intelligence for Business' aims to bring together industry leaders, innovative thinkers, and experts in artificial intelligence to explore cutting-edge strategies and solutions that can revolutionize business operations.
