Severe Blizzard and Snow. Roads Closed

The Rescue Service announces that there are closed and impassable roads in the territory of Armenia.

Due to road repair works, the section of the M-6 highway near Vanadzor-Alaverdi will be closed for buses and trucks with trailers or semi-trailers until February 15, at kilometers 38-40. An alternative route will operate through the city of Noyemberyan.

In the Aragatsotn region, the roads leading from the 'Amberd' high-altitude meteorological station to the Amberd Fortress and Kar Lake are closed. The Vardenyats Pass (due to snow and blizzard), the Berd-Jambarak road (blizzard), and the road from Tashir to the village of Vardaghbyur in Shirak region are also closed.

The hairpin turns of Dilijan, Stepanavan, and Spitak, the Vanadzor-Dilijan highway, and the section called 'Zanger' from the village of Syunik are closed for trucks with trailers, while the section from Saravan to 'Zanger' is closed for all trucks.

The roads of Gyumri-Bavra, Artik-Alagyaz, Gogavan-Stepanavan, and Blagodarnoye-Katnarat are impassable for all types of vehicles.

In the Syunik region, the Apna-Tsilkar and Mastara-Lanjik roads are difficult to pass for trucks with trailers. Snow is falling in the Kotayk, Ararat, Aragatsotn, Armavir, and Tavush regions (except for the city of Berd), as well as in the regions of Ashotik and Amasia, and in the cities of Stepanavan, Vanadzor, Tashir, and Jambarak.

Blizzard conditions are reported in the Shirak region's area known as 'Ghoch', in the regions of Aparan and Aragatz, and in the village of Tsaghkadzor.

According to information received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Emergency Department of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed for all types of vehicles.
