Erdogan Calls on Israel to Immediately Halt Attacks on Gaza
Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called on Israel to immediately stop its attacks on Gaza following a ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ). The information was reported by RIA Novosti.
In The Hague, the International Court of Justice issued a provisional ruling on Friday at the request of the State of Palestine, asking for interim measures against Israel in light of the alleged genocide occurring in the Gaza Strip. The court mandated Israel to take all necessary measures to prevent genocide in the region, to punish calls for genocide against Palestinians, to ensure the provision of humanitarian aid to the local population, and to preserve evidence related to allegations of actions against the Palestinian people as described in the Genocide Convention.
However, the court did not require Israel to cease military operations in Gaza, which was requested by the State of Palestine in its case.
“We once again call on Israel to immediately stop the mass killings, listening to the voice of the international community,” Erdogan stated today while speaking in Izmir.
