Which Regions See the Most Reports of Stray Dogs?

In 2022, 133 cases of dog attacks on humans were recorded, while in 2023, there were 134 cases. The Deputy Chief of Police, Karen Hakobyan, shared these statistical figures during a discussion in the National Assembly regarding the issue of stray dogs.

According to Hakobyan, there have already been 5 recorded incidents this January. He noted that the majority of calls regarding stray dogs pertain to Yerevan, while the regions with the highest number of complaints include Shirak, Armavir, Lori, and Kotayk.

“Based on the reports and complaints, the police have sent requests to local self-governing bodies to address the issue. The problem of sterilization of dogs is also concerning in the administrative districts. This issue is particularly evident in the regions. In Syunik, sterilization is not conducted at all. Sterilization is also not taking place in the areas of Sevan and Vardenis concerning stray dogs,” he added.
