Which Country's Residents Are Least Worried About Nuclear Threats? Survey
Residents of Iran and Armenia are the least concerned about nuclear threats. In contrast, people in Indonesia and Nigeria express the highest level of fear regarding this issue. This data comes from the overall results of the "End of the Year" global survey conducted by Gallup International. The information is reported by RIA Novosti.
The survey was conducted in 40 countries with participation from 40,000 respondents. Among the countries that perceive the nuclear threat as minimal, Iran and Armenia lead the way. In these countries, 33% and 30% of respondents, respectively, believe that the likelihood of nuclear weapon usage is low.
Globally, 40% of respondents consider the risk of nuclear weapon use to be high. A nearly equal proportion, 37%, assess this risk as moderate, while only 14% do not see any danger from the use of nuclear weapons. The remaining respondents found it difficult to answer.
According to this survey, Russians are positioned in the middle, with 20% of the population considering the threat to be high. "Russia generally exhibits a fairly optimistic attitude towards the nuclear threat. Thus, 20% indicated that the risk is high, 40% assess the threat risk as average, while 11% consider it low. The threat of nuclear weapons is seen as high by one-third of Americans (34%), moderate by 52%, and low by 9%,” analysts calculated.
Most prominent pessimism regarding the use of nuclear weapons is observed in countries like Indonesia and Nigeria, where 72% of the population considers the risk of nuclear weapon usage to be high. In Ecuador and Syria, 69% of the population shares this view, while in Argentina, the figure is 68%. In Italy, two-thirds of respondents (67%) also perceive a high likelihood of nuclear threat usage.
