Political Dialogue Between Armenia and India Is of Paramount Importance for Us: Alen Simonyan

The President of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, participated in a solemn reception dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Republic of India’s national holiday on January 26.

Welcoming the attendees, the Ambassador of India to Armenia, Nilakshi Saha Sinha, expressed gratitude to Alen Simonyan for honoring their special day and being present as the chief guest.

In his opening remarks, the NA President warmly congratulated the ambassador, the embassy staff, the Indian community in Armenia, and the friendly Indian people on the occasion of India’s Republic Day, stating that democracy and constitutionalism are the foundation of the centuries-old friendship between the peoples of the two countries.

Alen Simonyan highlighted that the friendship between Armenia and India has a long history, and it is upon these traditions that the relations between our countries have been built. “Today, we witness great cooperation with our friendly India. We hold love and respect for our Indian sisters and brothers who have moved to the Republic of Armenia,” emphasized the NA President.

The parliament leader added that political dialogue between Armenia and India has been strengthened in recent years and holds paramount importance. New momentum has been given to trade, and new volumes and successes have been recorded in education, science, culture, and other fields. “We also place significant importance on interactions in the field of parliamentary diplomacy. We are ready to activate bilateral inter-parliamentary relations,” said the NA President.

Concluding his speech, Alen Simonyan stressed that in a rapidly changing world, through joint efforts, we can strengthen the close friendship between Armenia and India, expand our cooperation in various formats, and significantly improve relations between the two countries. On the occasion of this historical anniversary, the NA President once again congratulated the friendly Indian people, wishing prosperity and progress in all areas.
