Brawl Involving Minors in Yerevan Involves 25 Participants, Injuries Reported
On January 19, a brawl occurred in Yerevan involving hooliganism. Around 19:00, a call was received from the Surb Astvatsamayr Medical Center at the Central Division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, reporting that an ambulance team had transported a minor with a "nose injury, polytrauma" diagnosis.
According to Shamshyan.com, doctors informed the police that the injured party is unable to provide an explanation of the incident, as they are currently in surgery. The victim has been identified as 17-year-old Arshak A. from Kotayk Province.
While police were at the hospital, an ambulance brought in another individual with a "facial laceration, polytrauma" diagnosis. Police determined that this patient is 17-year-old Gevorg G. from Yerevan. Shortly afterward, another individual was brought in with an "upper arm laceration, polytrauma" diagnosis, who was identified as 18-year-old Lermant G. from Yerevan.
While doctors were providing medical assistance to the three injured parties, officers from the Criminal Investigation and Juvenile Departments of the Central Division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, under the direction of department head Yervand Nikoyan, undertook necessary operational measures to determine the facts of the incident. It was discovered that between 16:00 and 17:00 on the same day, a confrontation took place at the beginning of Byron Street involving Arshak A., Gevorg G., Lermant G., and several residents from Yerevan and different regions of the Republic. Those involved included 17-year-old David P., 15-year-old Adam M., 20-year-old Hayk K., 17-year-old Hovhannes H., 16-year-old Tigran K., 17-year-old Hakob K., 18-year-old Artur H., and several others aged 15 to 18.
The participants grossly violated public order, displayed blatant disrespect for society, shouted insults at each other, and struck each other with their hands and feet.
The Investigation Committee of Armenia has initiated a criminal case on charges of "hooliganism" in the Investigative Department for the Center and Norq Marash Administrative Districts of Yerevan. Police and the investigative department are taking necessary measures to clarify all circumstances of the incident and identify all participants.
