After relatively mild conditions, winter has presented itself across the country in the form of heavy snowfall, strong winds, blizzards, and frost since the second half of January.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations has issued a statement urging drivers to remain vigilant. “Due to these circumstances, complex situations often arise on various road sections in the republic, especially in mountainous and high-altitude areas. Numerous calls received at the National Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are related to this situation. These mainly concern traffic jams caused by being stuck in snow and difficult accessibility.

During this period, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, with the active support of patrols, continue to operate around the clock, responding promptly to received calls for help from citizens in emergency situations, providing them with necessary assistance. In carrying out their difficult mission, rescuers and patrols also closely and effectively cooperate with the employees of road management and other organizations.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations recommends always considering the complex weather conditions, traveling with high vigilance on difficult sections, going out on the road only in cases of extreme necessity, and exclusively using winter tires,” the statement from the Ministry reads.
