VIDEO. New Footage from the Strong Earthquake in Almaty: There are Injured
A series of earthquakes have occurred in eastern China, near the border with Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, reports the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre. The tremors have been felt in cities across Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
The earthquakes began on the morning of January 22. A magnitude 4.4 earthquake was recorded at 12:10 PM Almaty time, with its epicenter located 383 km southeast of Almaty, Kazakhstan.
On January 23, the most powerful tremors, reaching a magnitude of 7, struck at 12:09 AM local time, approximately 121 km west of the Aksu region in China and 270 km southeast of Almaty.
As a result of the earthquake in Almaty, 44 people have been reported injured.
