RA Regulatory Authority Lifts Ban: Sputnik Armenia Radio to Resume Broadcasting

The RA Regulatory Authority has lifted the broadcasting ban on the "Tospa" company, allowing Sputnik Armenia radio to resume its broadcasts. The decision was made unanimously by the commission.

The radio station will return to the airwaves on January 25 at a frequency of 106.0.

It is worth noting that on December 20, the Armenian Television and Radio Commission decided to suspend the broadcasting of Sputnik Armenia radio for 30 days, while the rebroadcasting company "Tospa" was stripped of its license for one month. The company was also fined 500,000 drams.

The reason for the Regulatory Authority's decision relates to the November 17, 2023 broadcast of the show "Friday with Tigran Keosayan," in which the host allegedly made sarcastic remarks that belittled the dignity of the country and its people. The fine was associated with the program "Abovyan Time" hosted by former MP Arman Abovyan, which according to the commission, contained unverified and inaccurate information.
