New Uniform for Armenian Armed Forces to Consider NATO Standards: Ministry of Defense
The new uniform designed for the Armenian army will take into account NATO standards. This was stated by the Ministry of Defense in response to written inquiries from Sputnik Armenia.
Last November, Defense Minister Suren Papikyan announced in the National Assembly that a process of replacing the uniforms has been initiated, and work is being carried out with international partners.
"In choosing the new uniform, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia is guided by studies conducted through the exchange of international experience and compliance with NATO standards. Samples of uniforms from NATO member countries, including those of the USA, France, Greece, and the Czech Republic, have been studied," the ministry stated.
After the implementation of the new uniform, the Ministry of Defense will propose legislative initiatives banning the sale of the currently used uniform samples.
It is noteworthy that the government had announced a competition last year aimed at attracting all specialists who could present their ideas on design and quality of clothing. Several Armenian companies participated in the competition. They passed the first qualification phase. However, for the second phase, applications were submitted only for the creation of clothing for a specific type of service members.
