We Don’t Need the Council of Europe, the Nagorno-Karabakh Issue is Resolved: Azerbaijan Responds to PACE Decision
In the first session of the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), which began today, the mandate of the Azerbaijani delegation was not approved. It is recalled that earlier it was announced that PACE would limit Azerbaijan's powers for banning access to reporters in the Lachin corridor.
Azerbaijan has responded by stating that this move is an attempt to take revenge on "Azerbaijan, which has restored its sovereignty and territorial integrity." Baku emphasizes that PACE no longer holds significance for them, as Azerbaijan has long become a member of the Council of Europe for resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.
They pointed out that PACE has turned a blind eye to the fact that "Armenia is allegedly occupying Azerbaijani territory." Baku's statement reads: "The Nagorno-Karabakh issue is already resolved. Azerbaijan does not need the Council of Europe."
It further states: "If PACE decides not to approve the mandate of the Azerbaijani delegation and restrict its voting rights, it may become expedient for the Azerbaijani delegation to cease its activities within that organization. It will also become relevant for Azerbaijan to withdraw from the jurisdiction of the European Court of Human Rights."
