The People of Pakistan Hold Great Respect and Love for the People of Iran, Says Foreign Ministry
On Thursday morning, January 18, Pakistan launched an anti-terrorism operation called "Marg Bar Sarmajhar," during which strikes were carried out against "terrorist hideouts" in Iran's Sistan and Baluchistan province. This information was confirmed by the Press Service of the Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ministry explained that such operations are a manifestation of Pakistan's unwavering determination to protect its national security from all threats.
“Pakistan fully respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The sole purpose of today’s action was to ensure Pakistan’s own security and national interests, which are of paramount importance and cannot be jeopardized,” the statement from the Pakistan Foreign Ministry reads.
Additionally, the document stated that Pakistan supports the principles and objectives of the UN Charter, including the territorial integrity and sovereignty of member states. Guided by these principles and exercising its legal rights under international law, the country will not allow its sovereignty and territorial integrity to be called into question, the Foreign Ministry added.
“Iran is a brotherly country, and the people of Pakistan hold great respect and love for the people of Iran. We have always emphasized dialogue and cooperation in addressing common challenges, including the threat of terrorism, and will continue our efforts towards finding joint solutions,” the statement indicated.
