VIDEO: Dozens of Homes Left Without Heat in Novosibirsk Due to Hot Water Pipe Explosion

Dozens of homes in Novosibirsk have been left without heat due to an explosion of a hot water pipe. This marks the second such incident within a week.

The explosion occurred in the Leninsky district, near the intersection of Petropavlovskaya and Plakhotnogo streets, as reported by Siberian Express. Following the incident, approximately 70 homes, a hospital, and an ambulance have been left without heating.

Eyewitnesses reported that the gushing hot water rose as high as the seventh floor of residential buildings. The regional health ministry confirmed to NGS portal that five individuals were injured as a result of the explosion.

The city authorities have imposed a heightened state of alert. The governor of the Travniki district described the pipe breakage as a likely consequence of the January 11 incident, which increased the burden on the pipelines.

Following the previous incident, at least 124 residential buildings and ten social facilities in Novosibirsk were left without heating in the cold. Nighttime temperatures in the city are expected to drop to -25 degrees Celsius, while daytime highs will not exceed -20 degrees.
