The 160,000 Dram Fee for Parking Spaces is Not Just for One Year, but Also for 6 and 8 Months: A New Detail from 'Haykakan Jamanak'

'Haykakan Jamanak' newspaper reports that starting January 1, 2024, new prices for parking space red lines have been established, with an annual service fee set at 160,000 dram. However, upon examining the specified clause in the adopted law, 'Haykakan Jamanak' has clarified that these are not strictly annual payments.

If you wish to pay for parking for one year, say starting from March 1, you will still have to pay the same 160,000 dram. Here’s why: the law stipulates that any payment made for a given period, implying one year of service, is valid not until the same period in the following year, but rather until December 31 of that year at 00:00.

This means that regardless if residents are paying for 6 months or 12 months, the same fee of 160,000 dram must be paid. Thus, if citizens pay from January or even later—say from May, June, or September—they will still be charged the same annual service fee of 160,000 dram, which will remain effective until December 31.

As it turns out, the parking fees are not aimed at alleviating the Central District, but rather enriching the city budget and filling the revolutionary leaders' pockets through bonuses. In other words, this is a clear case of robbing from the citizens' pockets.
