China Files Protest Against Japan: What Led to This
China has expressed strong dissatisfaction and filed a protest with the Japanese Foreign Minister. The reason for this is the minister's congratulations to Taiwan's leader, Lai Ching-te, on his electoral victory.
This was announced by the Chinese Embassy in Japan. The day before, Japan's Foreign Ministry reported that Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa had congratulated Lai Ching-te on his victory in Taiwan.
Beijing has labeled the Japanese side's statement as a serious interference in the internal politics of the People's Republic of China, as well as a violation of the principle of 'One China.'
It is worth recalling that the day before, the people of Taiwan elected a new president, 64-year-old Lai Ching-te, who is an advocate for independence from China.
