VIDEO. Fog and Snowfall: What is the Situation on the Roads
Snowfall has been reported on the M-2 interstate road section from "Zanger" to Saravan. The Road Department has communicated that the road is being cleared and treated with a saline mixture.
The rescue service has also informed that there are closed and difficult-to-navigate roads within the Republic of Armenia.
Until February 15, road repair work will render the M-6 highway section between Vanadzor and Alaverdi, around kilometers 38-40 closed to buses and heavy trucks with trailers or semi-trailers. An alternative route will operate through the town of Noyemberyan.
Roads leading from the "Amberd" high mountain meteorological station in Aragatsotn province to the Amberd Fortress and K'ari Lake are closed. The Vardenyats Pass is difficult to navigate for trucks with trailers (use of snow chains is recommended).
On the roads of Syunik province, in the area known as Saravan-Zanger, there are patches of black ice. Snow has been reported in Shirak and Kotayk provinces, in the Vardenyats Pass (blizzard conditions), in the regions of Aragats, and in the cities of Dilijan, Tigranashen, Jermuk, Ashtarak, Aparan, and Kajaran.
Fog has been noted in the cities of Jermuk, Dilijan, and Noyemberyan.
Regarding Lars, information from the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Emergency Situations Department and the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations North Ossetia Crisis Management Center indicates that the Stepantsminda-Lars road is open for all types of vehicles. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.
