Correctional Officer Fired Following Viral Video

A video has circulated online showing individuals deprived of their liberty roaming freely in the corridors of a correctional facility in the presence and with the permission of a correctional officer, listening to loud music and filming everything with a prohibited mobile phone.

This information was reported by the Correctional Service. Following an investigation related to the video, it was established that it was recorded before September 2022, as the convicted individual L.M., featured in the video, was released from the correctional facility on September 9, 2022, after serving his entire sentence. Thus, he could not have been present in the correctional facility nor depicted in the video after this date.

“At the same time, we inform you that the correctional officer D.A., shown in the video, has been dismissed from service by order of the head of the Correctional Service dated January 8, 2024,” the statement adds.
