VIDEO: Customs Prevents Attempt to Export Approximately 66 Tons of Metal Scrap
Based on data received by the Internal Security Department of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia, customs control was carried out at the Meghri customs checkpoint of the South Customs Administration. The control was conducted on goods declared for export under the customs procedure, specifically parts of special machinery.
During the visual inspection of the exported goods, employees of the SRC's Internal Security Department had reasonable grounds to suspect that the product being exported by three trucks was metal scrap, the export of which is prohibited by the Armenian Government's decision No. 994-N issued on June 22, 2023, regarding a temporary ban on the transfer of certain goods from Armenia to the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union and their export to third countries.
The attempt to export approximately 66 tons of metal scrap has been thwarted. A double examination has been assigned for the exported goods, which were found to be unsuitable for further intended use. A report on the violation of customs regulations has been prepared, and the materials have been forwarded to the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia for legal assessment and for ensuring the continuation of the proceedings in accordance with the law. A criminal case has been initiated.
