Around 1000 Cars and Trucks Stranded on Highway in Sweden Due to Snowstorm
Cold weather and a snowstorm in southern Sweden have left nearly 1000 cars and trucks stranded on the roads for more than 24 hours. The Swedish armed forces have delivered food and water to those trapped in their vehicles.
According to BBC reports, many people stranded on the highway have been evacuated by rescue workers, who advised them to return to their vehicles later.
Extreme cold weather conditions are affecting not only Sweden but also Finland, Denmark, and Norway. In Denmark, drivers have also been stuck on one of the highways since January 3 due to snowdrifts.
Earlier, in the northern part of Sweden, in the village of Kvikkjokk-Arenyarka, temperatures dropped to minus 43.6 degrees Celsius on the night of January 3, marking the lowest temperature recorded in Sweden in the last 25 years.
