Video: Planes Collide at Tokyo Airport, Fatalities Reported
Two planes have collided at Tokyo's Haneda Airport, involving a Japan Airlines aircraft and a Japan Coast Guard plane. Local media reports indicate that the Japan Airlines plane was landing when it struck the DHC-8 military transport aircraft of the Coast Guard.
According to regional media, there were 379 people on the passenger aircraft at the time of the impact, including crew members, all of whom were evacuated safely. Tragically, five crew members from the Coast Guard plane lost their lives, while the captain has sustained serious injuries.
NHK reports that today about 100 flights from Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways will be canceled at Haneda Airport.
