Murder Occurs in Yerevan Following Dispute Over Long Staring
In Yerevan, on Zvaryan Street, a 20-year-old man engaged in a dispute over the trivial question of staring at each other with two brothers, who are residents of Yerevan, along with his brother and a group of others. This was reported by the Investigative Committee.
On December 26, 2023, at 11:23 PM, a call was received from the "Erebuni" medical center regarding an unconscious individual. They were diagnosed with a "stab wound to the right groin region, profuse bleeding" and were admitted to the hospital.
The individual, born in 1974, lost consciousness and died at 11:50 PM on the same day.
A criminal case has been initiated by the Yerevan Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee regarding this incident. They conducted an inspection of the crime scene, seized recordings from security cameras at the location, and interviewed multiple individuals. A forensic examination of the body has been appointed.
As a result of investigative actions and operational-search measures, essential circumstances surrounding the event, as well as the identity of the alleged perpetrator, a 20-year-old resident of Yerevan, have been established.
According to the data obtained during the investigation, around 10:30 PM on the same day, the 20-year-old got into a verbal altercation over the trivial matter of mutual staring with two brothers who reside in Yerevan. The argument escalated into a fight, during which the 20-year-old, alongside his brother and the mentioned individuals, disturbed public order and created an atmosphere of fear and unrest among local residents by screaming and using offensive language.
Subsequently, with the intent to unlawfully take a life, he attacked the 49-year-old father of the two brothers who intervened in the dispute with a sharp cutting and stabbing object, causing fatal injuries.
Based on the facts obtained, the 20-year-old has been charged under Article 155, Part 1, and Article 297, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. He has been detained as a measure of restraint.
The investigation is ongoing, and all necessary measures are being taken to identify everyone involved in the hooligan act and to provide legal assessments of each individual's actions.
