Turkey to Manufacture and Install F-16 Engine for Its Fighter Jets

Turkey plans to manufacture engines for F-16 fighter jets in collaboration with the United States to use in its aircraft. This is reported by RIA Novosti, citing Western media sources.

It is noted that Turkey aims to ensure engine supplies for the initial operational phase of its fifth-generation TAI KAAN combat aircraft.

"Turkey has requested permission from the U.S. for the joint production of GE Aerospace engines used in F-16 aircraft, with the aim of applying them to its own fighters," the article states.

Ankara intends to use the F110 engines on the KAAN aircraft until it develops its own manufactured engines.

The first flight of the KAAN aircraft is expected in January 2024.

It is worth mentioning that earlier, Turkey's National Defense Minister Yaşar Güler announced that the KAAN combat aircraft would enter the military arsenal no later than 2032.
