Emergency Incident: 30 and 33-Year-Old Citizens Hospitalized with Gunshot and Stabbing Injuries
On December 27, an emergency incident occurred in the Syunik Province. Around 20:10, the "Kapan" medical center received a call from the Armenian Police's Kapan division, reporting that a citizen had been admitted with a diagnosis of "penetrating blind wound in the upper third of the right thigh."
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the head of the Syunik regional police department and the head of the Kapan police division went to the hospital. Medical staff informed the police and patrol officers that the injured individual was unable to provide an explanation as he was in surgery.
While doctors were fighting for the victim's life, police determined that he was 33-year-old Mher Abgaryan, a resident of Kapan. It was also established on the scene that another person had been admitted to the "Kapan" medical center with a diagnosis of "gunshot wound at the level of the third lumbar vertebra on the left posterior line." This individual was identified as 30-year-old Ararat Davtyan, also from Kapan. Medical staff reported that he was likewise unable to provide an explanation, as he was in surgery.
A group from the Syunik regional investigative department of the Armenian Investigative Committee, led by the head of the department and the on-duty investigator, arrived at the scene following the report. A criminal case has been initiated by the investigative department regarding the incident.
The police and investigators are working to determine the circumstances of the incident, as well as where and under what conditions the injuries were sustained.
