Snow, Blizzard, and Black Ice: Current Situation on Roads in Armenia

As of December 24, at 10:10 AM, snow is falling in the Meghri region. This information was provided by the Road Department.

“Blizzard conditions are reported on the Kuchak-Mirak and Alagyaz-Artik roads, as well as in the regions of Ashotik, Gavar, and Sevan. Due to the blizzard, the Vardenyats and Saravani mountain passes are closed to vehicles with trailers, while other types of vehicles are finding it difficult to navigate through these areas. There are patches of black ice on the roads in the Talin, Ashtarak, Abovyan, Yeghegnadzor, and Ararat regions,” the statement said.

It is noted that other interstate and national roads are open. Road construction teams are conducting cleaning and sanding operations on the roads. To avoid accidents, incidents, and traffic jams, drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.
