Germany Completely Abandons Russian Gas, Replaces It with Norwegian Supply

Germany has completely abandoned Russian gas and replaced it with Norwegian supply. Until 2022, Germany was one of the most dependent countries in Europe on Russian gas, which accounted for up to 60% of its gas needs.

According to Reuters, Norway is now supplying 60% of Germany's gas consumption. However, such a significant dependency on a single supplier still poses risks, though these are not as profound as those associated with Russia.

The report mentions that in the first half of 2023, exports of Russian gas to Europe decreased by nearly 40 billion cubic meters, and by the end of the year, production in Russia is expected to decline by an additional 62 billion cubic meters.
