VIDEO: Heavy Snowfall in Sochi; Flights Diverted to Nearby Airports
Heavy snowfall has struck Sochi, leading to closed beaches and flight diversions. This information comes from Readovka.
Authorities have shut down the beaches, and due to almost zero visibility, the airport has halted incoming flights, redirecting them to alternative airports. Reports indicate that around 20 passenger aircraft flying to Sochi have changed their course and landed elsewhere, according to the Federal Air Transport Agency of Russia.
Due to adverse weather conditions, particularly strong winds and heavy rains, planes have been unable to land in the well-known resort city and are landing at nearby airports. "How long the airplanes will remain at alternative airports will depend on the weather conditions," the statement reads.
