Investigative Committee on Arrested Fisherman
Recently, following an incident between the Ministry of Internal Affairs' water patrol officers and fishermen, 25 of the 26 arrested fishermen have been released from custody. One individual has been charged under Article 452, Part 4, Clause 2 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. This information was reported to Aurora News by Gor Abrahamyan, spokesperson for the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
A petition has been submitted to the court to apply detention as a measure of restraint against the fisherman.
It should be noted that a tense situation arose recently in the village of Noratus in the Gegharkunik province. Fishermen from several villages in the region staged a protest and blocked the Yerevan-Sevan highway in both directions. The fishermen’s protests were prompted by the water patrol's prohibition against poaching in Lake Sevan.
