Turkish Opposition Leader to Pay Erdogan $1,700 in Moral Compensation
The leader of Turkey's largest opposition party, the Republican People's Party (CHP), Özgür Özel, will pay Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan over $1,700 as moral compensation for the violation of the state's leader's 'personal rights.' This information was provided by the president's lawyer, Hüseyin Aydın.
‘The case for moral compensation, which we filed against Özgür Özel due to the violation of the president's personal rights, has concluded with the Ankara Regional Court’s 25th Civil Chamber,’ he wrote on the social media platform X.
Legal proceedings involving Turkey's president and his political opponents occur regularly. Just yesterday, Turkey's leader donated over $2,230 to orphans in Gaza, which was awarded to him in a lawsuit against former opposition leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.
