Snow Falling, Black Ice Present in Some Areas: Situation on Roads in Armenia
The rescue service reports that there are closed roads in the territory of Armenia. It has been reported that the roads leading from the ‘Amberd’ mountain meteorological station in the Aragatsotn region to the Amberd Fortress and Kari Lake are closed.
“The Vardenyats Pass is difficult to navigate (blizzard) for trucks with trailers; it is recommended to use tire chains. Snow is falling in the Shirak, Kotayk, and Gegharkunik regions, as well as in the city of Jermuk and in the sections known as Saravan-‘Zanger’, Sisian-‘Zanger’, Vardenyats Pass, and in the regions of Yeghip and Apnaran,” stated the announcement from the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
It was also noted that according to information received from the Emergency Management Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the North Ossetia Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia, the Stepantsminda-Larsi road is open for trucks. Drivers are advised to travel only with winter tires.
