Russian Embassy Comments on Decision to Suspend Broadcasting of Sputnik Armenia Radio
The decision by the Television and Radio Commission will affect the right of Armenian listeners to receive information from their chosen sources. This statement was released by the Russian Embassy in Armenia, commenting on the Television and Radio Commission's decision to suspend broadcasting of Sputnik Armenia Radio for 30 days.
"This step cannot but be seen as a concession in favor of those who increasingly advocate for the severance of traditional, mutually beneficial, and respectful allied relations between Russia and Armenia," the embassy's message stated.
The embassy also drew attention to another point: the decision to suspend the broadcasting of the Russian media outlet's branch in Armenia was made just one week after constructive consultations between the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media and the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of Armenia (which took place on December 14). The Russian diplomatic mission reports that during these consultations, the parties agreed to closely collaborate and resolve all emerging contentious issues.
